Show and local law enforcemenl officers present at the scene when John Singer was killed January 18, 1979. The original complaint listed the law officers as "John Does A through Z" since their names were not revealed by the state immediately following Singer's death, but only after ordered to do so by U.S. District Court 'Judge David K. Winder. Between now and March 1, lawyers for both sides will be taking depositions (pre trial testimonies of potential witnesses before a court reporter) of recently named defendants, identifying expert witness, and filing new motions. Judge Winder will preside over the proceedings. Singer Trial Reset The trial involving the $111 million wrongful death suit filed by John Singer's widow, Vickie, against the state of Utah was continued Friday in federal court in Salt Lake until March 1. The trial was originally scheduled to begin last month. The 10 month delay is due to the filing of an amended complaint by Vickie Singer's chief counsel, Wyoming attorney Gerry Spence. The amended complaint names more defendants in the civil rights case which already includes the state's , governor, attorney general, public safety commissioner, highway patrol superintendent. Summit County Attorney and Summit County Sherrif among others. The additional names which appear on the amended complaint as defendants are Deputy . Summit County Attorney Terry Christiansen, Bill Riggs, employed by the Division of Narcotics and I iciuor Law Enforcement. |
