Show New Resort Gondolas Arrive Park City Resort will be loading you on brand new gondola cars this Thanksgiving, Thanksgi-ving, and the down loading at the angle station will end because starting the day before turkey day, the mountain will be open to the bottom. Packy Longfellow, the resorts re-sorts communications director, direct-or, says the mountain will be skiable to the bottom through Treasure Hollow. The best part, he says, is that lift tickets will remain at $15 for an adult full-day pass until the entire mountain opens. The price for a half day is $9 and kids ski for $7 and $5. The new gondolas were first being hung last week, on opening day, Longfellow said. The resort should have the 125 cars on the line by the end of the week. It will be the completion of a $500,000 project that included in-cluded the purchase of the cars and the time needed to assemble and hang them. Lifts Manager Doug Clyde said the cars, which were made by Swiss firm CWA of Olten, feature tinted glass, and- a roomier feeling. The cars also have doors that close automatically. "The company that made them is the largest producer of gondola cabins in the world," Clyde said. 'The resort went first-class." He said CWA will make 1 ,300 gondola cars this year. The new cabins make the demis of the old standbys, which have been in service -since the resort opened. As for the skiing, Longfellow Long-fellow says its excellent, and he added that the run to the bottom through the hollow was also smooth because the cold weather has allowed the resort to make considerable snow. The lower lift ticket price will remain in effect until "Mother Nature can dump on the mountain," he said. |
