Parkites definitely turned out in true form Saturday night for the Annual Snow-flakers' Snow-flakers' Ball, the Chamber Bureau's traditional marathon mara-thon fundraiser and winter kick-off social. The theme this year was "The Park City Circus," a subject most people had little trouble identifying with. More than 500 guests showed up, almost exclusively exclusive-ly in costume, at Deer Valley's posh Snow Park Lodge for an evening of drinks, food, dancing, games, comraderie and lots of laughs. Costumes ranged from the strangely obscure gentleman encased in a balloon spider web, to the overt and ever present Jonny Please turn to page 1 1 0A Fire Commissioner Herb Johnson and School Board President Nancy McComb discuss their suits...er, costumes. 1 U W I A ; 14 V-V" i"" A ' 1 ' ; i i 1 , V h ' KJ r . jJ I Tina Lewis ensnared in complicated balloon costume. , . ! Disgruntled citizens took their revenge on Councilwo-man Councilwo-man Helen Alvarez and repeatedly knocked her off her lofty perch into a tub of water below. Others laughed their way down the track at the bourbon race, while still more watched suspensefully as the wheel of fortune spun to either a pocket mirror or dinner for two at the Claimjumper. A smile was on every guest's face as they danced to the punk sounds of Andrea and the Strap, or the big band sounds that came later in the evening. Midway through the evening, even-ing, Tina Lewis, one of the principal organizers of the event, arrived. She had been home sewing her costume, a chick black affair that made her a cross between W.C. Fields and Bill Blass. Major vacation raffle winners win-ners included: Bill McComb -Scottsdale, Arizona; Bill Coleman - Epcot Center, Orlando Florida; Jan Wilking - Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisianna; Rick Hall and Una Young -Hawaii; and Joe Hanley -Lake Mead Las Vegas. The ChamberBureau said it was initially disappointed at the amount of money raised during the evening. That's too bad because it certainly was one of the best ever, as testified to by the hundreds of smiling, laughing laugh-ing people present all night long. fk - v 1 """r, .; .
