Show U.S. Team Names Members The US Ski Team has - finalized its rosters for its women nordic and alpine teams for this season's competition. The men's alpine squad will again be anchored by world champion Phil Mahre and his brother Steve. Skiing with the Mahres will be John Buxman of Vail, Colo.; Tris Cochrane, of Greenville, Maine; Seve Hegg, of Squaw Valley, Calif., Doug Powell, of Chappaqua, N.Y. and Jace Romank of Taylorsville, California. Cali-fornia. The women's alpine team will consist of Christin I Cooper of Sun Valley, Idaho; j Holly Flanders, of Deerfield, N.H., Tamara McKinney, of J Squaw Valley, Calif., Cindy Nelson, of Vail, Colo., Cindy Oak, of Orchard park, N.Y., Abbi Fisher, of South Conway, Con-way, N.H., Karen Lancaster, of Incline Village, Nev.; ilaria Maricich, of Sun Valley; Heidi Preuss, of Lake port, N.H. and Rebecca Simning, of Truckee, Calif. Last season was a banner year for both the women and men. In addition to Phil Mahre's World Cup win, Steve Mahre placed third in cup standings and the women won the Nation's Cup, making them the best women's ski team in the world. Steve Mahre also won the giant slalom gold at the World Championships in Schlasming, Austria, the first time that had been done in the 51 year history of the team. On the Nordic side, Bill Koch, of Putney, Vt., won the world cup. This year he is joined by Tim Caldwell, also of Putney; Jim Galanes, of Brattleboro, Vt.; Dan Simoneau, of Eugene, Ore.; Hoie Bean of Wolfeboro, N.H.; Audun Endestad, of Fairbanks, Ala. and Craig Ward, of Lake Placid. N.Y. The women's nordic squad comprises Leslie Bancroft, of Paris, Maine; Lynn Spencer-Galanes, Spencer-Galanes, of Brattleboro, Vt.; Judy Rabinowitx-Endestad. of Fairbanks Ala,; Pat Enberg-Guttormsen, of Seattle, Wash.; and Beth Paxson, of Morehead, Ky. |
