Show Mexican Berchtesgaden Set A special "Mexican Berchtesgaden" Bercht-esgaden" night will be held for the Thursday, August 5 performance of "The Night of the Iguana" at the Egyptian Theater. For this performance only, patrons who wear, carry, display or otherwise disport any authentic Mexican article will be admitted for $3.00 (12 the regular price of a ticket). In addition, at intermission, Wolfgang Sonntag, owner of the Cafe Ritz on Main St., will treat all patrons to authentic German Bratwurst and potato salad, free of charge. The play takes place in a small seaside Mexican village vill-age in the summer of 1940. Patrons of the Costa Verde Hotel, a ramshackle establishment esta-blishment surrounded by verdant rain forest and managed by a "sort of bright widow spider", Maxine Faulk, include a fever-ridden ex-preacher tour director; a bus load of lady school teachers from the Baptist Female College in Blowing Rock, Texas; a New England spinster and her 97-year-old poet grandfather; and four honeymooning Germans who are jubilant over the bombing bomb-ing of London. This mixed bag of characters, charact-ers, a steamy Mexican summer, and nerves stretched stretch-ed to the breaking ,. point . Vi'create'ari" atmosphere and aV play that are both comic and tragic -- the ultimate Tennessee Tennes-see Williams estimation of the human condition. The antic yet menacing gloating of the vacationing Germans prompts de-frocked Shannon to remark "Maxine, you're turning this place into the Mexican Berchtesgaden." Patrons of "Iguana" will find it easy to slip into the mood of the play, thanks to the superb direction by Richard Jewkes of Salt Lake City, an incredibly realistic set that well may be the finest yet at the Egyptian, and a strong cast headed by John Perryman as Shannon; Madeline Smith as Maxine; Asha Quinn as Hanna; and Dick Mitchell as Nonno. Others include Alex Herrera as Pedro, Wolfgang Sonntag as Wolfgang, Demie Milli-ken Milli-ken as Hilda, Chuck Folkerth as Herr Farenkopf and Pat Whitfield as Frau Fahren-kopf. Fahren-kopf. Additional cast members mem-bers are Richard Scott as Hank, Ann MacQuoid as Miss Fellows, Pam Finegan as Charlotte Goodall and Mike Rudd as Jake Latta.
