Show 'Suspicious' Firebird Vanishes Susan Boyde advised authorities July 26 of a "suspicious" black Firebird that was repeatedly cruising past the Edelweiss condos on Empire Av. Officers, responding to the call, found no trace of the sporty Pontiac. Keep Marijuana Away From Windows PCPD officers seized a medium size marijuana plant July 26 that was earlier seen growing in a back window at a Park Av. residence. Missing Lawnchair Allegedly Found Mark Stemler, manager of The Club on Main St. told officers this week he had possibly located a lawn chair stolen recently from the popular private club. Stemler said he thought he spotted the chair on the porch of a Woodside Av. residence and the police are investigating his information. Boy's Slingshot Catches a Window A young boy vacationing here with his parents shot a hole through a window at Phyllis Offret's Empire :A v. home this week. The police report says the boy evidently became "over-zealous" with a sling shot but adds his parents agreed to pay Mrs. Offret in full for the damage. Tools Disappear From Condo Tools valued at $423 vanished this week from the Empire Coalition condominiums located at the intersection of Empire and Park Avenues. The condos are under construction. Shoplifter Nabbed at 7-Eleven A Park City youth was apprehended for shoplifting July 29 at the 7-Eleven Fast Food franchise on Lower Park Av. The young man apparently shoved a pack of bubble gum valued at 35 cents in his pocket and attempted to leave the store. Threat Made to Mary Travers An employee at the Holiday Inn told the police July 31 she had found an alarmingly cryptic message that was in all probability meant for members of the singing group Peter, Paul and Mary who were registered at the hotel that night. The police blotter indicates the woman either found or was shown a poster advertising performer's Parkwest concert Saturday night. The faces of the three singers on the poster had apparently been "burned" out and on it was written a disconcerning message that read: "death to Mary". Officers are investigating the possible threat. Laundromat Cleaned Out Noreen Nelson informed authorities Aug. 8 the laundromat on Park Av., had been broken into the night before. Nelson x told officers a locked store room door had been forced open by the intruders and $4 to $5 in change was missing along with some clothing. Additionally, investigators determined the burglars stayed long enough to do their laundry. The police are searching for a suspect or suspects who were forced to carry their wash home wet after Nelson locked up for the night at 9 p.m. Air Compressors Stolen Two air compressors, valued together at $1,000 have been reported stolen from a construction site on Empire Av. The theft was reported by Harold Bowen. Tires Shot Out After Argument Two tires on a car owned by Victor Byer were allegedly shot out by Mike Spears July 30. Witnesses claim Spears flatten the tires after an argument with Byer in the End Run Tavern. |
