Show Tent Awaits Summer At. Pros pecto r Squa re 1 . Park City's big top circus tent, purchased by the taxpayers tax-payers last year for over $30,000. will spend this season on a vacant asphalt parking lot across from the Grubsteak Restaurant in Pros pector Square. Purchased U provide the community with an all weather site for meetings, conventions; and' ! public gatherings, the tent enjoyed a popular season last summer at the city park where it was the site of picnics, family gatherings anrj con certs, including a performance j by the Utah Symphony. The park posed an impossible impos-sible location for the tent this season because the Miners Hospital , now awaits renovation renova-tion on the site. Besides, Park City Recreation Board mem-, bers maintain that the park was never a really suitable site due to poor parking and lack of restrooms. The tent apparently apparent-ly also killed the underlying park grass plus created a nuissance to neighbors who constantly complained of the noise coming from the canvas pavilion. Tina Lewis, Chairman Chair-man of the Rec. Board which oversees tent policy maintained maintain-ed at last week's City Council; meeting that this year's tent location is temporary and by no means an. ideal, permanent location. "It's the only alternative altern-ative we had" she said. The tent will be available this summer for any ', group that wishes to rent its space. Civic and non-profit organizations in Park City may rent the tent for a $250 refundable security deposit while individuals and businesses must pay a fee of $250 per day plus the $250 deposit. Out of town businesses business-es pay $400 per day plus the deposit. For the price, Park City will provide Insurance, electricity, lighting, trash cans, risers routine security and a water hookup. |
