' U of U Presents Tales of Hoffman' The University of Utah Opera Theatre will present Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales Of Hoffman, Friday and Saturday, April U and 12 at 8:00pm.. in Music Hall on the U of U Campus. Presented by the University of Utah. Music Department, The Tales Of Hoffman is the third production of the U of U Opera Theatre, and outgrowth of the Opera Workshop. . Lowell Farr and Naomi Farr are Co-Directors and Co-Founders Co-Founders of the U of U Opera Theatre. "This is our most challenging production,", said Mr. Farr, "and the cast is meeting the challenge beauti- .- fully." Jason Klein, faculty mem-bcr mem-bcr and Director of the U of U Symphony Orchestra, will conduct. Louis Welcher, of the U Music Faculty, has done the choral preparation. Costumes are by Claudia Boddy who has done several shows at Pioneer Memorial Theatre and also designed for last year's opera Cosi Fan Tutte. Jaye Beetem is Production Stage Manager, I Steven J. As the tales unfold, we see three different aspects of love and enchantment. enchant-ment. , . Hoffman will be sung by tenor Edward Clark. Lindorf, Coppelius. Dapertutto and Dr. Miracle will be by baritones Steve Griffith (Friday) and Wade Wilson (Saturday). Hoffman's friend Nicklaus will be Liana. Terzani (Friday) and Dorothy Briggs Arnold (Satur-. day). Olympia will be Michelle Blackhurst on Friday and Julie Miller on Saturday Giuletta will be sung by Jan ,Cox and Anne Wetzel; Antonia by . Susan B.
