To Be or Not To Be by Steve Winchester Everyday at noon for the last nine weeks the Winter Intramurals Part Two were being played in the Middle School Gym. There were many people that played in the games, but only a few stood above the crowd . They were the nominees for the Most Valuable Player of these intramurals. intra-murals. -x:--": In the 7th and 8th grades there was one boy and one girl nominated by each team for M.V.P. Out of the boys, the over all winner was Pat Ott of the Spartans with 7 of the 16 . possible votes. Taking second - was Ricky Williams of the champion Spikers with 4 ' votes. Other boy nominations were Broncos Craig Griffin with 1 vote and Kenton Lewis from the Smashers with 1, Of the girls, the over all winner was the Spikers Joyce Olsen with 8 votesNoV ;fkrehind was Andrea Peterson with 4 votes from the Smashers. The other girls nominated were ;SuzieMiles frora ibe.Broncos with 1 and also with 1 was Staci McMahon of the Spartans. Spar-tans. V. . ' In the 5th and 6th grades 'Mrs. Hunt picked the M.V.P. out of a feiled of 10. The winner's were Brad Zaba of the Clutts and Kim Evans of . the Gorillas. Congradulations! Billboard Symbols by Randy Dyer In this last week the library and the halls of the middle school have begun to look like billboards. Most have a picture of an eagle, others have sayings like "the wings of change" or "helping to make things happen". What is all this for? Well it's a billboard advertisement. These signs are being advertised adver-tised to the students and the one they like best will become trie school symbol or motto. Sighs4 are still being made by the publications class and they'll be decided on in a week or two. Also deciding about a sign out front by Park Avenue is coming up on the agenda . since that Park City High School sign has been there for two vears. another ten.metlalsl-. The April 1st Victim , by Susan Stover As the students gather around Miss Black's classroom class-room she walks into the room, and discovers that allof the desks, including hers are turned over. To her surprise everyone yelled, April Fools! That afternoon the middle school hired a detective. Someone had stolen Miss Black's shoe! The stolen has not been found yet, but should be found soon. I interviewed Miss Black on how she felt about these April Fools jokes, and she said, that she wishes April 1st came everyday. - APRIL FOOLS! It was probably just the opposite. oppo-site. Good thing April 1st does; only come once a year! A New School Lunch? . by Randy Dyer Lunch: usually the second meal of the day, an appetizing portion of food... Well, to most students this isn't very true. A majority of . the students at Winters Middle School find the lunch neither appetizing nor are the portions fair. 35 out of 50 kids polled didn't like the lunches. So the student council decided to take action. David Van Luven and Kim Robinson were appointed to keep track of the amount of school. lunch that was being wasted. A Dreani of the Future . b Susan Stover As the' 5th grade "student of the week", Anna Street, finishes all her homework from school she quietly goes straight to bed. She dreams about her future goals. Her dream starts out, with her wedding. At the reception everyone is eating pizza, while watching her favorite movie, "Saturday Night Fever." .; After her wedding she is entering the career of an air flight, attendent, which is her occupational goal. .She could take her family, June and Merrial Street, and her sister, Christine Street any place that would be enjoyable for half price. When she gets enough money she finally obtains her most important goal, which is getting a horse. She wakes up the next rnorning and hopes, that her dream will all come true. The runners are now oh their final Jap. They are . close. Here they come. The race is over. Alice Gardner this weeks eighth grade student of the week has won. Alice is 13 vears old. She j v .... , . . had lived in Arizona for 10 -years, and won many track ribbons there. Alice also likes to swim and horseback ride. This is Alice's third year in the middle school. She is a very good student. Alice's mother, Vesta is a housewife and her father Allan is a mining consultant. Alice also has 8 sisters. Cheri age 25, Karen 23, Alaine 22, Janelle 21, Lori 19, Dandle 15. Bobi Kay 6, and Tawnya 5. She also has two brothers, Aaron age 24, and Abram age 3. They are a happy family. Outstanding Swimmer In Fifth Grade by David Van Luven .Ready! Set! Go! As the starter's gun fires, five swimmers swim-mers slice into the water. With her teammates from the Redondo Beach Aquatics cheering her on, Julie Burnett begins her final lap, finishing far ahead of the others. This was her tenth medal for this swim meet, her greatest accomplishment. Julie is currently acting in ; her first play, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." It is under the direction of her father, Ron Burnett. She.. is doing a very fine job as one of the No-neck J Monsters: Julie was chosen as this week's, fifth grade student of ; the week. Getting excellent grades, she strives in math taught by Mrs. Clayton. If Julie has another swim meet, let's hope that she wins |
