Show Eagle Update bear. Two Consecutives by Mark Zaba Volleyball was first invented invent-ed by William G. Morgan in 1 895. Now, we have vol ley-ball ley-ball associations and pro teams. The volleyball, when smashed over the net, can get up to 70mph. Well in the final intramural game of the second quarter, two teams, the Spikers and Spartans, were battling for first place and a victory party of their choice. The game they played was volleyball. The Spartans, who are the defending intramural intra-mural champions, had some rough times early in the season. Thev were tied .for 2nd place with a 6-7 record, trailing behind, the 1st place Spikers with a 9-4 record. That's when the Spartans started to pick up. They went on a winning streak, while the 1st place Spikers went on a losing streak. The Spartans started winning. Winning 9 out of their: last, 10 games, while the . Spikers .. started losing, losing five out of their last ten games, enabling the Spartans to pull ahead by a couple of games. The Spikers would be able to prove within one game if they beat the Spartans in volleyball. , , . . . If . the Spikers won the volleyball game, the two teams . would play a war-ball war-ball game; The Spikers needed a volleyball game win to stay alive. It proved to be a good game, between -the two teams. The serve kept going back and forth as well as the lead. Finally, after a couple of good rallies, the Spartans put the Spikers away, winning it 21-14, taking their second consecutive consec-utive intramural championship. champion-ship. He does like the skiing, however, and he intends to be a pro skier. Right now Joey attends the Middle School each week day. His favorite subject is P.E. "because it isn't too hard." "; Let's take a look at Joey's imaginary side. I asked Joey to picture his home on fire. '.'What . two possessions would you attempt to save?" I asked. He thought for a minute and then answered, "My dog Tommy (a Fox Terrier) and my Astrotune (an earphoned music system for skiing and other activi; ties)." Joey also decided he would like to be stranded on a desert island with Cheryl Tiegs, his idol. I asked him what he wouJd say if the Good Fairy fluttered down and granted him a wish. Without a moment's hesitation, hesita-tion, he answered, "To get out of school because I don't like it." Getting a little more realistic. I asked Joey what his opinion was on the Iranian situation. Very decisively decis-ively he replied he'd like to "bomb 'em." Joey is hoping to make bundles of money in his future, and buying a Pantera. Joey, likes the color blue: "his favorite food is lobster; he likes the rock group Van Halen; and "Midnight Express" Ex-press" is his favorite movie. He describes himself as "quiet." Future Helper by Susan Stover What would $500 buy at this point of the new decade? Not much. But if Tiffny Jensen had $500, she would spend ; it all on getting and caring for animals. Before the prices on ' everything rise some more, it's wise to start thinking of what you would like to do with your life. Tiffny would like to become a doctor. Who knows, with the Iranian Crisis going on and such, we might need her experience in the future. While awaiting for the time to come she must get good grades in school, which she already has. If you haven't already figures it out, Tiffny Jensen is Student of the Week for the week of January 14-18. She earned this by getting all caught up on her work. While patiently waiting for the hot summer days (which is her favorite season), she eats pizza while watching "Grease," her favorite movie. She longs for summer to come so she can go sailing and play soccer which are her two favorite sports. , She would very much like to travel around the world, : but likes to live in Summit Park because its very pretty there. She lives with her mother and t father, David , and Rosalie Jensen. ; f Maybe there's hope for the world, because in the'' near future, Tiffny Jensen. , might have the answers. I think that a ski program for a school is an unnecessary, but highly appreciated ap-preciated iuxury, and I think our program is well run when you stop to consider all the problems connected with setting up such a program. In summation, I'd say the program is fair, but considering consider-ing the difficulties involved, all those involved did a good job. M'KV.y This is the Eagle Eye's View signing off until next week when I will feature the results of a mini-opinion poll. Mythology by Susan Boyle I'm sure you have heard about myths, but do you know how they began? Well, it all started when people long ago couldn't come up with a reason for the things that took place on the earth, and with people, earthquakes, earth-quakes, lightning, thunder and diseases. So the people then made up answers to their own questions, and made them into interesting stories. Now the students in Mrs. Southerlin's 8th grade, 4th period English class at the middle school are learning all about how myths began, and also the gods that supposed to have made the ' things, such as earthquakes,, happen. We, are getting our infor-, mation from tour different .books, including "The Odesy of Homor," "The Greek . Gods," "Heroes and Monasters Mon-asters of Greek Myths," and "Gods, Heroes, and Men of Ancient : Greek. ' ' After we" v,had chosen one of the books,: we picked a story from the , ;r book.
