Park City, Coalville and Morgan are included in the list of communities to benefit from the purchase of ambulance am-bulance vehicles. The state will provide ( $10,000 to each local jurisdiction juris-diction for the purchase of a new ambulance,including equipment, which conforms to new state and federal specifications. Training opportunities op-portunities will be made available in communities throughout the state for ambulance am-bulance personnel who will man the new ambulance vehicles. Park City, Coalville and Morgan are in line for new ambulance equipment, according ac-cording to a recent statement state-ment from HEW. Paul S. Rose, Executive Director of the Department of Social Services announced that a grant application by the Utah State Division of Health has been funded by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (DHEW) in the amount of $643,974. Dr. Lyman J. Olsen, Director Dir-ector of the Division of Health, indicated the funds would be used to improve Emergency Medical Services Ser-vices System in Utah. The award will assist in the replacement of 36 worn-out worn-out or out -dated ambulances throughout the state with new vehicles which conform to both state and federal specifications. It will also provide for the purchase of needed ambulance equipment for existing ambulances throughout the state and for the purchase of emergency room equipment for 18 rural hospitals. The grant will provide training opportunities for 480 ambulance personnel from throughout the state. The training program (81 hours) will provide opportunities opport-unities for state and national nation-al certification as Emergency Emer-gency Medical Technician-Ambulance. Technician-Ambulance. Training opportunities op-portunities will also be made available for 20 paramedics (480 hours) and implementation implemen-tation of an Emergency Room Nurse Training Program to be conducted through the University Un-iversity College of Nursing.
