Show Strategy Discussed Saturday, August 24 the central committee of the state democratic party met in Park City. The meeting which was chaired by state chairman John Klass was held in the Memorial Building. According to Klass the purpose of the meeting was to discuss campaign strategy for the up and coming November No-vember election effort. The jist of the campaign will be the senate race be tween Salt Lake City Mayor Jake Garn and Congressman Wayne Owens. Klass feels that President Ford is "enjoying a honeymoon honey-moon period brought about by the previous administration. administra-tion. He found the manner in which Nelson Rockefeller was placed in nomination for the office of Vice President Presi-dent "refreshing" as compared com-pared to the fanfare surrounding sur-rounding the Ford nomina tion earlier this year. When questioned about the proposed ten cent surcharge on gasoline as an anti inflation infla-tion tool, chairman Klass commented; "This won't solve inflation, it's a regressive re-gressive piece of legislation which will force lower income in-come groups to carry the brunt of the load". The meeting was hosted by Summit County Party officials offi-cials Jim Kilby and Gwen Larsen. |
