Show RUSH THE GIROUX CONSTRUCTION WORK Salt Lake. Nov. f. Construction work at the Glroux property is being rushed with great rapidity, both on the surface at the various plants, and nlso in the mine in tbe driving of drifts and Installing cf pumps, says Thompson. Towle Co Good progress is being made underground under-ground In drifting on the l.200.foot level, which Is belnl run from the Glroux lo the Alpha shaft This work lug should reach the ore bodies before be-fore making connection w,th the latter, lat-ter, owing to the dip of the lode toward to-ward the Giroux from the Alpha. Diamond Dia-mond drllllne has been done below the 1.000-foot level In the Alpha, and some very good ore developed. Although Al-though the ore shoot, was passed through to a depth of 1.200 feet at this shaft, the intersection of the ore bodies on the 1,200-foot level should be Important. It was In a short drift extending from this shaft that a considerable con-siderable quantify of native copper, assaying about 4 per cent, was exposed ex-posed In the old workings. When the Alpha shaft, which Is under un-der water to tbe 1 oon-foot level, has been drained the development of the ore Itodles will proceed rapidly in depth, levels bplng run to the lode at 200-fuot Intervals. These working will be shorter as greater d-pth Is reached, as the ore bo'llesdlp toward the shaft. It Is expected that he vein will be intersected at a depth of 2.000 feet The big pump has already been lowered to the pump station on the 1.200-foot level, and I now being put In place. Rapid progress Is being made with 'he power plant, boiler and holats. Owing to the surface Install;) tlon at the shaft and the equipment In progress underground, shaft sinking sink-ing has only b n orried on during spare shifts. However, on the completion com-pletion of this work, pinking should again be resumed as formerly. |
