Show ERECTING LARGE CREAMERY PLANT Tho Blackman and Griffin creamery and refrigerator building, which is now under way of ' construction on Canal street, Just back of the firm's offices on Washington avenue, will bo the most absolutely fire-proof structure struc-ture in the city, according to Architect Archi-tect G. A. Graves, under whose supervision super-vision the building Is being erected. To make the building fire-proof and panitary were the first considerations jn tho drawing of the plans, and the structure is to be built with practically prac-tically no combustible material whatever. what-ever. Tho rooms will all bo finished with a material which will mAko it possible to turn the hoso into them and wash tho floors, walls and ceilings ceil-ings without discrimination. There -will bo no place In which dust or dirt can lurk. The capacity of tho plant will bo 20,-000 20,-000 pounds of butter per day. This is the largest capacity of any similar plant In tho entire lDtennountain country. It will hav a cold storage capacity equal to eight refrigerator cars. Tbo machinery which will be required to operate tho plant will be of the latest design. and will b run by electricity. It is eaUmatod that the equipment alone will cost more than $10,000. and the cost of the entire en-tire plant will probably- exceed $30,-1 000. I The building la being erected by the Llewellyn Construction company and roust be ready for occupancy by March 1. The walls are of brick and reinforced concrete and tho window-frames window-frames of steel. No wood will bo used In the floors or in any other Yart of the Interior frDnstnictirn where it can possibly be avoided. In size the building will be 40 feet wide by 114 feet in length and will have two stores and a basement. Every provision possible in tho way of fire and sanitary equipments will be made. The most modern sterilizing steriliz-ing apparatus Is to be installed and the doors in the upper rooms, where the stock of butter will be kept, will 1 all close automatically should the rooms reach a temperature indicative of fire. |
