Show C0 11 AS Speaker Refuses to Go Home and Insists On Campaigning I Emporia, Kas.. July 18 Speaker Joseph G. Cannon was up early this morning, after a good night's rest, prepared pre-pared for a day of strenuous cani-palglng. cani-palglng. The weather here is cool nnd a repetition of the experience of Wlnfleld, Saturday, when the speaker speak-er wa9 overcome by the heat. Is not anticipated. t .Mr. Cannon's family at Danville, however, has sent several telegrams of inquiry concerning his condition. His secretary has tried to get him lo go home, but it is practically certain cer-tain that, unless the efforts of today prove too much for him. Mr. Cannon Can-non will not leave the state until after aft-er his speech at Marlon. Tuesday night. He has been advertised to speak at Salina, Friday, but he now has no Intention of filling that date. Speaker Cannon addressed the students stu-dents of the Stale Normal school at 11. o'clock this morning. He discussed discuss-ed tho house rules. At 3 o'clock this afternoon he will make an open air speech and probably prob-ably will reply to Senator Bristow charges concerning the increase in the tariff on rubber. He will go to Burllngame, where he will speak tonight, to-night, and after the night's meeting he will go by automobile to Topeka where he will spend the night. |
