Show f 111- II 8 1j Narrow Escape From Death of Prominent Californians Eureka, Cal., July 18. Secretary of State Charles F. Curry and three members of his party, who have been touring northern California in the in-I in-I terests of Curry's candidacy for the governorship, had a marvelous escape from death late Friday night, when the big Curry touring car skidded on the mountain road between FortBragg and Oarnerville, plunging over a forty-foot embankment, turned over twice in its descent and landed a total wreck. The injured are. Charles. F. Curry, pinioned under i the automobile, both legs wrenched, forehead gashed oer right eye. Charles M. Bredhoff of S?.n Francisco, Fran-cisco, face cut and one of his shoulders shoul-ders badly sprained; fell clear of the automobile. Lee Norton of San Francisco land ed fifty feet from the machine; back i nnd hip wrenched ! Chauffeur Ray Callahan of Sacra- mento leaped from the machine as it ' went over- tho embankment and land- j I ed at the bottom. Ho escaped with a 1 severe shaking up. I W, A.
