Despite all of this work the usual us-ual precaution will be maintained during tbo winter months. The cutire cut-off will be patrollel eery day, and in time of possible danger a largo force of men and material will b3 ready to move at a moment's notice. LUCiN CUT-OFF IN GOOD MDITI9N The famous Lucln cut-off across the great Salt Lake is in a better and safer condition than it has ever been in its history, according to officers of the Southern I'ucilic who have recently re-cently made a thorough Inspection of the cutn.ff with a lev of determining determin-ing what, if anythLng further, might be done to protect It before the usual hish winds of the late winter and eatlv sprine come. Following the storms of last spring the company set to work to strengthen strength-en every foot of the cut-off that was in the least need nf protection. This work has been steadily enrried on all summer, tens of thousands of tons of rocks have been dumped into the lake alon both sides of the fills, the principal work being dune on the west end. where In the past the greatest damage has been suffered. An additional mile of the road on the west end fill has been double tracked Mid the embankment extended extend-ed to sixteen feet on each side of the double track so as to give additional addi-tional uctcction.
