Threw Cannon Down Hole. The cannon was a part of the K lip-ment lip-ment of a force (.f Kausans under Col. (J. W. Veal, of Toprka, on a march from Sprint-field. Mo., to Fort Smith. Ark. Attacked by General Price's command and driven buck toward Springfield, the Kansas forces lost the gun but, rallying, pursued Price's men so closely that they, rather than risk losing the artillery, threw It down a hole, where it baa remained for 46 years. |
