EX-PRIEST AGAIN IN JAIL James Ambrose Ryan, under Mie pseudonym of Charles Ryan, the erstwhile erst-while Catholic priest, is again In trouble. This lime he Is charged with drunkenness. He was arrested at about the midnight hour and landed in jail. He Is still in the bastlle. A report was sent to the police station sta-tion last night that Rjau was hang Ing around the residence of his wife, Mrs. Sadie Moran Ryan, on Lincoln avenue, near Twenty-third street, and thnt he would not depart. The officers offi-cers went after him, but in arresting him had quite a tussle. The man was determined not to accompany the officers to the city jail, and he had to be taknn by force. The officers state that he seemed frenzied wiih drink. He was bent on remaining at the .Moran home for the night. After getting in,to the 'patrol wagon, ho cooled down a little aud fnld he was willing to go to jail. It will lie remembered that, only a short time ago, Ryan was arrested on the charge of disturbing the peace. At that time he entered the Moran residence and created a disturbance, i It is stated by Captain Brown, that I the present charge of 'drunkenness may be changed to that of disturbing' the peace, for which a greater penalty may be administered. The caso was to have been called in tho muulcipal court this morning, but when the desk sergeant went after aft-er Ryan, he could not be aroused Mif-flclently Mif-flclently to gel him to understand that the time for his arraignment had arrived, and that ho was wanted In the court room. Jt was decided to permit per-mit him to continue his sleep and call the case tomorrow. It is 6,-dd that the man offered no violence at the Moran home last night, but that he persisted In hanging hang-ing around the place and expressing tbo desire to spend the rest of the night there. He was ejected from his hotel last night before he vltitod the Moran bnnie, and it waa hoped by those concerned con-cerned that he would leave the city without making .further trouble. The man would not b? interviewed this morning, and he rfusod"to leave his cell, even for arraignment in court. A few days ago he said he was going go-ing to leave thj city and go to California Cali-fornia for the purpose or taking up the study of law In one of the universities uni-versities in that state, but, last night he 6tatcd that h would not leave the |
