Declaring Declar-ing that be took th. picture merely to make a copy of It, William Kuno, I a young German artist, was arrested this afternoon In possession of the $lo.iiu(rMlllet painting "Shcpcrd and flock." which was stolen last Sunday Sun-day from the Golden Gate Park Museum. Mus-eum. Kunzc was arrested In Ms studio after a sccarch of the city which has boon prosecuted with the utmost vigor ever since the valuable painting was cut ,rom its frame by an unknown thief last Sunday. Detectives De-tectives Sergf?nt Edward Wren, refused re-fused to dixnlge the clew whie. led to the arrest. Immediately after booking the prisoner pris-oner on a charge of grand larcenv, he left the city prison accompanied by several detectives and it is believed that they went in search of possible accomplices. To the questions of sergeant Wren, the arrested man answered that h was led to take the picture by his love of the beautiful and a desire to make a copv of It. I ' |
