Ellis and his present relation to tho department of Justice and the Republican Repub-lican campaign in Ohio were freely discussed in the house today. Minority leader Clark insisted on knowing, in connection with appropriations appro-priations for the department of Justice, Jus-tice, whether Mr. Ellis had actually ceasod to draw his salary as assistant assist-ant Attorney General slnco he had taken charge of tho Ohio campaign. Mr. Tawnoy cxpre8fed confidence that Mr. Ellis no longer drew any salary from the government. "This is not the first time that men who obtained confidential information in public office, which might be of value in the conduct of a campaign have been selected for such duty." shouted Mr. Fitzgerald of New York. "Mr. Ellis has had an opportunity to get Information that can be verv val-uablo val-uablo in 'frying the fat', which is the technical republican expression and with the powo.r he may save the president pres-ident In his own stato in the coming campaign.
