Show REBUILDING THE SAN PEDRO. The Utah Construction company will ship a number of outfits south during the week, to commence work on the reconstruction of the Clark railroad through Meadow Valley wash. When the great flood of the first of the year destroyed the Salt Lake road for a distance of over 100 miles, tho officials of the wrecked line sought to obtain a more desirable route than that through the Wash, but, failing, have decided to rebuild over the ruins. Three months, so it is said, will witness the resumption of through traffic. The decision is a good one. There may not be another such disaster dis-aster in 20 years certainly not until the Clark people have had ample time to provide against a recurrence of the floods. In the meantime, the road can regain its prestige and relieve a great section sec-tion of country which has suffered the loss of railroad facilities, including the mining camp of Pioche and the farming community around Moapa. |
