Prominent among the social events of last week was the wedding of Ml Ruby West and Mr. Walter Stevens, who were united in the bonds of holy matrimony at tho Salt Lake temple last Wednesday. On their return to this city tbey were met by a number of outhuslastlo friends, who presented thorn with mementos of the occasion in the shape or rice and old shoes. They were then escorted to a waiting automobile auto-mobile and taken for a trip about tho town bv their captors. In the evening a reception was given them at the home of tho bride's mother, Mrs. Maggie West 227S Madison Madi-son avenue. The home was prettily decorated with bridal wreath and carnations in a most artistic manner. The bride, attended by Miss Martha Critchlow as maid of honor, looked lovely in a tunic gown of liberty silk and carried a beautiful shower bouquet bou-quet of white bride's roses. The groom, with Mr. John Scow-croft Scow-croft acting as best man. looked handsome hand-some in conventional full dress. DHIelous refreshments were served during the evening, and all present were delighted with a number of fine bass solos, sung in pleasing manner by the groom. Mr. John Scowcroft played the accompaniments and also rendered several appropriate selections selec-tions on the piano. Those participating rendered their parts in a way that made the hearts of all Scotchmen heat with pride, and each number was heartily applauded and serial wore compelled to respond to an enrore. Father Ryan. The parlors and dining room were elaborately decorated with pink and white roses, carnations, ferns and smllax, tho bride carrying a shower bouquet of white bride roses. The occasion was without doubt tho most successful one of the series, se-ries, the carefully prepared program of twenty-ono dances belug keenly enjoyed by all. : A feature that greatly enhanced the pleasure of the evening was the pretty decorations of red, white Bnd blue streamers which formed a canopy over the dancers, coming to a focus around a huge liberty bell suspouded from the middle of the celling. The punch booth and the pretty cozy corners, were also very popular features. The usual good program of music was strengthened materially by tho addition of several of the latest waltz compositions, all being played by a six-piece orchestra in most finished manner. Messrs.
