Show SUMMER HOMES IN THE CANYON. That camping in Ogden canyon is no longer recognized by many as a luxury but as a necessity is made evident by the large number of Ogdenites who are already permanently provided with summer homes in the gorge and the many who are buying land on which to build. A piece of land, about the size of a town lot, a short distance east of the end of the car line, was sold for $350 a day last week, which is further proof that eventually the canyon will contain a large summer colony, with every available site utilized, and that already there is a near approach to that condition. One owner of building sites purchased his small acreage a few years ago for $400 and lately has refused an offer of $15,000 for the property. A company bought a tract in the canyon two years ago for $8,000 and last fall a subdivision of the land was sold in lots for over $9,000. People from all over this region are beginning to be attracted to Ogden canyon as a camping ground in summer and it will not be long until many families from Salt Lake City and other near-by places will bo following tho example of Salt Lakers and other outsiders out-siders who are already counted among the canyon's colonists. With the building of the electric line to Huntsville this fall, the summer camping grounds may be enlarged and the same transformation transfor-mation experienced in Ogden canyon may be witnessed in South Fork, that beautifully rustic spot to the southeast of Ogden valley. |
