Show MNV IN IN THE RAILROAD SIPS Every stall In the large south shop of the big Southern Pacific machinery Plant in this city is filled bv engines undergoing repairs, and every available avail-able man who can work to advantage is now employed in that department. The force has been materially Increased In-creased during the last sixty days, and Is now larger than ever before. In conversation with a Standard reporter, re-porter, one of the prominent officials of that department said: "We are employing more men now In the Southern Pacific plant than ever before, and all employes aro putting In full time and working nine hours six days In the wreek. Last ?ar at this tlrao the men were laying off part of the time and at this season were only working eight hours. Conditions Con-ditions have changed for the better, and. while the ntotlre power on the Salt Lake division is in excellent 6hapo, we are working all the men we can handle to advantage. As a result of this prosperous and pleasant condition, con-dition, employes in this department aro all satisfied and the pay roll for the present month is at least 25 per cent in excess of that of one year ago." |
