A lady by the name of Mrs. Warren, visiting here from Nevada, had a narrow escape es-cape from serious injury this afternoon after-noon by being knocked down by an siutomobile. In stepping back to avoid the team, she stepped directly in front of the approaching machine which struck her a slight blow on the side, knocking her to the pavement. Luckily the machine was proceeding at a low rate of speed and wns stopped, within a foot after striking strik-ing the woman. It was stated that the machine belonged to Dr. Joyce and waa driven by a young man accompanied accom-panied by a lady. The driver offered to tako Mrs. Warren to her home, but the offer waa declined, the latter stating stat-ing that she was uninjured.
