Show EXPERIMENTS WITH WIRELESS TELEPHONES TO BE MADE New York. April 9. Experiments, with wireless telephones as a means of communication between a balloon in the air and a station on land, are soon to be made by A. Leo Stevens the aeronaut. The first tests will be ciade from the reconstructed balloon Conqueror, which was one of the American Am-erican contestants in the international internation-al race at Berlin and which exploded. The ascension will he made at Springfield, Mass., under the auspices of the Springfield Aero club. Mr. Ste-ens Ste-ens will bo the pilot and will be accompanied ac-companied by VY. F. Whitehouse, of this city, and A. H. Morgan, of Cleveland. Cleve-land. "Wireless telephone stations will be established at the top of eome high building In New Ycrk and Boston," raid Mr. Stevens, "and we expect to be able to give a detailed account of our trip as we are sailing through the air. For long ascensions or balloon races, the wireless telephone outfit should he of inestNable value as it will be possible to keep track of the balloon, ami in case of difficulty assistance as-sistance may be quickly sent. "For government uses in dirigible balloons, the wireless telephone will also be of great aid. In recounoiter-ing recounoiter-ing expeditions, it would thus be possible pos-sible to give accurate Information of the operations of the enemy in time of war." |
