Show MRS. DEE'S GIFT. Some months ago this paper was informed in-formed that Mrs, Thomas D. Deo had decided to build, as a memorial to her husband, a large hospital to cost $75,000 to $100,000. Since then Mrs. Dee has been Interviewed repeatedly and Dr. Joyce has been questioned, but neither have had anything to give for publication, except to admit that the hospital plans wore under consideration and all would bo made public In due time. At last the story has made Its appcaranco and is now public property. The building of a modern hospital would be ono of the best philanthropies philan-thropies that could be bestowed upon this community. Mrs. Dee has been studying tho plans of eastern hospitals hospit-als and, no doubt, has reached a decision de-cision as to the size and architecture of the structure. Our understanding Is that the new hospital will be constructed near the present building devoted to that purpose. pur-pose. There will be no extra effort at embellishing the exterior, but the money will be devoted to making the interior all that a hospital should be in sanitation and convenience. Tho old hospital site had been selected se-lected when it was thought the street car system would be extended to that point Tho new hospital will be a monument monu-ment such as monuments should be, and not tall shafts of granite or beautifully beau-tifully shaped mausoleums of marble of no utility except to please the eye for a moment This will be a structure struc-ture where suffering humanity can offer of-fer up thanks that some kind soul had been thoughtful enough to build a haven of refuge where they might be taken for surgical and medical treat-ment. |
