Show EMPLOYEES ALLOWED TEllDAYS In Which to Defend Themselves Them-selves Against Allega tions of Lobbying. Washington, Feb. 9. Acting upon charges made against three of its organizations or-ganizations of poHtoflle employes. Postmaster General Meyer today served serv-ed notice that he ould allow them ten days In which to defend themselves them-selves against allegations of lobbying before congress In the interest of legislation leg-islation affecting postal employes. Tho complaints were made against Frank T. Rogers of Chicago, president of the "United Association of Postal Clerks; William E. Kelley of Brooklyn, president presi-dent of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and E. H. Roberts of this city, representing the railway postal pos-tal clerks. In the case of Kelley and Rogers, the postmaster general has cancelled their leaves of absence and ordered them to return "Immediately" t othelr work. Tho postmaster general't action was taken after several conferences with President Roosevelt The former baa caused a letter to be written to each of the. three men in whkh it Is declared de-clared In part: "It is alleged that you have violated executive order dated Jan. 31. 1902, in that you have attempted to influence legislation in your own Interest and In the interests bf the association which you represent." |
