Show THINGS THE FARMERS NEED. ' Roosevelt's message on the report of the commission . on country life points to certain radical needs that should be supplied and defects that should be corrected If the unhealthy drift away from life on the farm Is to be stayed. The real backbone or America Is found In the country. The cities are In large part constituted of parasitic growths. In tho following passage the conditions are summarized, summar-ized, says the Dispatch: "The work of the commission points that there are three great and immediate im-mediate needs of country life. First, effective co-operation among farmers to put them on a level with the organized or-ganized interests with which they do business; second, a new kind of echool in the country, which shall teach the children as much outdoors as Indoors, so that they will prepare for country life Instead of, as now, for life In town; third, better means of communication, including good roads and a "parcel post, which the country people are unanimously, and rightly, demanding." |
