Show RAISED THE UNION JACK ABOVE STARS AND STRIPES New York, Fb. 13. With the air surcharged with patriotism during tbe many Lincoln celebrations yesterday, Gustavus Hennlng, a consulting engineer, en-gineer, who lives in West 142nd street, selected a nry inappropriate time to display the British union Jack above the stars and 6trlpes. However, ne swung the English emblem on the roof, and the red, white and blue from a second-story window. A neighbor indignantly noting the position or the flags complained to the police and, whether by strictly legal right or not, detectives were sent to notify Hennlng Hen-nlng that the British flag must be brought down at least to the level of j Old Glory. Hennlng complied w"$l ' instructions -and throughout the 'remainder 're-mainder of the day the flags fluttered flutter-ed in the breeze side by side. |
