Show MONEY TO BE APPROPRIATED FOR DEFENSE OF MITCHELL Indianapolis, Jan. 22. A resolution to appropriate money to assist In defraying de-fraying the expenses of John Mitchell, former president. In his defense against the jail sentence pronounced In Washington upon him and Messrs. Gompers and Morrison, was offered in today's session of the United Mine Worker's convention. President Lewis, It Is understood, recommended the appropriation. The-tellers The-tellers counting the ballots cast in the December election, announced that they cannot report until next week. President Lewis states that he is assured as-sured he will be re-elected by 30,000 votes. His opponent, John Walker, of Illinois, claims the viotory by 12,000 votes. |
