Show WELL-KNOWN COALVILLE MAN CALLED BY DEATH Coalville, Jan. 22. This community commun-ity was greatly shocked this morning morn-ing to. learn of the sudden death of former City Marshal John Calll. who died at 3 o'clock. Pneumonia was tho cause of death. Mr. Callis complained complain-ed of a bad cold tho first of the week, but no one expected any serious trouble. trou-ble. He has always been a healthy man, hardly knowing what sickness was. Mr. Callis was born in London, England, about forty years ago, and came to this country' when a mere lad with his mother. They first made their home in Bountiful, Davis county, I and afterwards moved to this place, which had been his home ever since. He followed the occupation of coal miner and mechanic for a number of years, working at the coal mines here. When the new court houso was I built, he wa6 appointed custodian. In 1907 he was appointed by Sheriff George M. Evans a deputy for Coal- ville. filling that position for two years. He was also city marshal during dur-ing 1908, resigning at the end of the year to resume work at the coal mine. |
