Show VOLCANO ON THE ISLAND OF LUZON Manila. Jan. 20. The volcano Iag-nns, Iag-nns, in the Tnyamas prmince, which forms the southwestern part of tho island of Luzon, became suddenly attire att-ire between 8 and 9 last night and the eruption seriously damaged the surrounding sur-rounding country." ,o reports of loss of life have been received. Loud reports, re-ports, detonations and deep rumblings preceded the eruption and were heard during the afternoon. Telegrams received here describe the outbreak of the volcano as a "giant explosion of water " The governor of the province reports by telegraph that a large area of cultivated fields was ruined, highways rendered Impassable and .many bridges destroyed. It is believed here that the subterranean subter-ranean rumblings and detonations warned tho people of the coming dancer dan-cer In time for them to flee to the hills, thus preventing loss of life. From reports received. It appears that great torrents of water rushed down the sides of the volcano during the eruption. |
