Show LIBERTY BELL MAY BE CARRIED FREE OF CHARGE Portland, Ore Jan. 20. Chairman Martin A. Knapp, of the Interstate Convrr.erce commission, has ruled that the transcontinental railroads, which carry the Liberty bell to tho Portland Rose festival and other celebrations on the Pacific slope, may cany tho historic his-toric relic free of charge Chairman Knapp's telegram says that if the Liberty Lib-erty bell is to be taken to the Pacific coast for state or municipal governments, govern-ments, for charitable purposes or to and from a fair or exposition, It may be carried free. The railroads had already al-ready offered to do this, provided the commission would consent. I |
