Deputy Sheriff Dick Wootton made the arrest. Following his arrest Hampton admitted ad-mitted having filled in two checks I signed by Edward M. Tower, manager man-ager of tho Golden Rule storo yesterday yes-terday morning and to have deposited' them to his account In the Ogdcn .State bank. Ho declared these checks were $1500 and $500. Salt Lake Deposits Hampton then said he drew SG00 In cash from his account here and went to Salt Lake. At tho National Bank of the Republic there ho Bald that he opened a checking account by depositing ?500 cash. Ho then wrote one check for $12,500 nnd anil an-il other for ?G00, making a total of $13,600, and depositing them to his account. He admitted that his check for $12,500 was worthless, but declared he wanted to swell his account ac-count so that he could make loans. It is tho belief of the officers that Hampton, who returned to Ogdon -late last night, meant to draw against his Salt Lake account hero today and make his- getaway.
