Show SALT LAKE TEAM HAS m PITCHER CAMP HERR, Pittsburg, Gal., April 2 Another heaver was added to the S f Salt Lako string today when Skipper Eddie Herr brought in Grover Brant, a husky right-hander. Brant began J f his career with the Los Angeles club three years ago. For the last two seasons he has been with the San An- tonlo club In the Texas loague, from i which team he was acquired bv the H Boes. He is said to have doveloped f Into a good flineer Brant is at home f I at Fresno and will leavo that city Fri-: Fri-: day for Salt Lake, arriving there Sunday Sun-day or Monday. He has been playlnc winter ball and is said to be in fairly good condition. The Bees wound up their training - season today with a three-hour work- out. For the first time since he reported, re-ported, Yinoi-nt Molynoux's arm loos ened up today. Given a period of ten days longer, Molyneux promises to be a good deal of help to the Bees. Some of the boys who livo in near- by bay towns went home this after -i noon to gather up some clothes. They 1 will return either late tonight or early ear-ly tomorrow. This afternoon was given over to j packing trunks and making preparations prepara-tions for departure. The packing la in charge of Teter Jackson, who since his service in the navy has become an expert at packing bags and tyinc knots. Tho club will leave Pittsburg at. 11:45 tomorrow forenoon. At Port I Costa, where they strike the eastern L main line, they will transfer to their Ht own car. They are due in Salt Lake at 7:35 Friday night. Manager Herr said today that if any of the younp Christy Mathewsons of Salt Lake want to show him what they can do, they are invited to report at Bonneville park. He is looking for youngsters with speed, who can pitch to the batters, and. if they show anything, any-thing, he will see that they get a chance in some smaller league. This is a chance tho youthful flingers of Zlon have never had before and, no doubt many of them will take advantage advan-tage of it. The young lads were bitterly disappointed dis-appointed this morning when the skipper skip-per notified them of their releases. They are Pitcher Floyd Alley and Fielders Tom French and Klppy Spangler. Herr promised them he would bear them in mind and would no doubt be able to place them before long. |
