It was derided that the celebration shall be for one day and that the Salt Lake committee be invited to join t. Ith Oedon in making the historical event a notable gala day in Utah. It was also decided that Ogden Bhall entertain as Its guests as many of the old pioneers who took an active part in the work of puttinc the two threads t of steel across the desert to form the J transcontinental line as can be found and brought here for the day It is said that there are many of the old pioneers in the state who worked on ihe railroad when it was bcinc built. Most of them, however, are aged and Infirm, and it will be necessary to provide pro-vide specially for their entertainment. They will probably be asked to come, and be looked out for by the Daughters Daugh-ters of the Pioneers. At the meeting this morning a letter, let-ter, endorsing the celebration and offering of-fering such assistance as can be glT t en, from the Historical society, was read by President I W Shurtliff of the Weber stake. The meeting was attended by Mayor Browning, Commissioners M. L. Jonea and Chrl.: Flygare; County Commissioner Commis-sioner M. p. Brown; W. H. Chevers of ihe railroad administration; O. J. stil-weU stil-weU of the ORden Publicity Bureau; Mrs. Maria Farr Taylor, Mrs, Amelia Flygare, V. M. Pippott and L . Shurtliff. The names of the committee head? appointed will be published as soon as they have been notified and have signified their acceptance. Mr. Phevers stated that the railroads I would co-operple with tho parade committee, and that all assistance possible would be piven to make tho event successful. I |
