Show U. S. WON'T DISCOUNT HUN BONDS FOR ALLIES LEEDS, Eng., May 28. Tho London correspondent of the Leeds-Yorkshire Post with regard to reports that Great Britain nnd Franco ha.s proposed to tho United States that that country discount dis-count German reparation bonds, says today; "A foreign offlco official has Informed In-formed mo that neither the British nor tho French government has so far sent any proposal to the United States government gov-ernment to discount German bonds which Great Britain and Franco would receive a3 reparation, thus giving both the immediate handling of ready cash. 'The official said the reason for not taking thl3 step was that Information had been received from the British embassy at Washington that any such proposal would instantly be rejected by thcUn!tcd Slates on tho ground that Its acceptance would make that government the collector, of a substantial substan-tial portion of the lndemity levied on Germany. "But while the United States is unwilling un-willing to pull the allies" chestnuts from tho fire, tho administration at Washington, 1 am reliably Informed, I Is seriously considering a proposal to write off a large part of the allied indebtedness to that country."
