Plans for an I aerial circuit or the Atlantic ocenn I wee announced by ihe Aero Club or America. The Aero clubs of the IS. 'countries represented in the Interna-, ! ilonal Aeronautic Federation will co 1 operate in promoting the event in, which the. world's noted aviators are expected to be contestants. The plan is o have tho competitors 1 start rrom New York and fly southward, south-ward, stopping nt Ihe main cities on the Atlantic seaboard and then continuing con-tinuing by way or Cuba. Haiti. Porto Rico, across the Caribbean sea lo Caracas Car-acas and along the west coast In Per-nambuco, Per-nambuco, then across the Atlantic to Dakar on the west coast ol Africa.) Tlw course will then be northward along the coast or Africa touching Magatlor and Casa Blanca, then "cross either Portugal or Spain to Riarrilz, and along the French coast, stopping , at several French -cities, thence to 1 London and other cities or the British isles, then to Chiistianla and other, cities or Norway. Denmark, Sweden and The Netherlands. The North Atlantic will have to be crossed in night but the competitors ' will bo permitted to fly either by way or Ireland. There will be two classes of competitorsthe com-petitorsthe piloting and the non piloting pi-loting clnss. The latter class are en tere l as passengers on aircrart piloted pilot-ed by others, and can travel by heavier I or lighter than air craft but must make i the entire circuit or the Atlantic bv air. 1 The entrants or the piloting class j are permitted to use any number .or aircrart. hut only to change from an airplane to a dirigible ir the crew of the airplane Is used also to pilot the dirigible. The Atlantic may be crossed either wit.i airplanes or dirigibles. The prizes Tor the event, it Is stated, will amount to more than $100,000. ' |
