Show RED CROSS WORK IN 000EN IS i I GOING FORWARD AND GOOD I RESULTS ARE BEING OBTAINED-1 The most complete hopes and an- ticipations of the workers of the local Red Cross- chapter have been more ' than fulfilled in tho talent and skill! of Mrs. J. R. Johnson, the National Red Cross worker who arrived in Ogden Og-den yesterday morning for a week's work. Tho desires of tho Ogden workers have nlso been fulfilled in tho attendance and Interest manifest on the part of the local forces and Ogden people In general. Tho attendance attend-ance at the meetings yesterday was all that could bo asked and cheer and the most optimistic smiles characterize char-acterize the Red Cross women today. Mrs. R. B, Porter has been a host In all this work of the planning for this week's success and In her work she has been ably assisted by her chairmen of tho new committees, Mrs. Frank J. Stevens, Mrs. W. II. Shearman, Mrs. Frank Drlggs, Mrs. J. E, Wright, Mrs. L. R. Eccles and a host of just as efficient and loyally enthusiastic committee members who have given up much to moke the week a success Yesterday Mrs. Johnson attended an enthusiastic meeting of tho Young Woman's clubs of the city at tho home of Mrs. Ted LIttlefield on Capitol avenuo. It was a delightful social event as well as a real Red Cross rally. Mrs. LIttlefield was ably assisted as-sisted by her popular sisters in the entertainment and care of her guests. Mrs. Johnson gave an inspiring talk onJ the means of work for the young women and told just what the young women of the other cfties wore doing for their country and counseled how tho young married women of Ogden could be a real help to their country. This morning Mrs. Edward Bichsel, president of tho Woman's Federation of Clubs in the state, acted as hostess and Miss Beatrice Pingree gave her i services as chauffeur, and Mrs. Johnson John-son was taken to the high school, the j Sacred Heart academy, the Weber ' i stake academy, the Central and Mound Fort sub-high schools and then to the Gables at the State Industrial school . for lunch. At each of these schools instruction and plans were given for junior Red Cross work as well as general work for those who had time f and zeal to learn the work. It is hoped that several units of work will result from this morning's work. I This afternoon at 2 o'clock Mrs. Johnson will conduct a general meet- J ing in the parlors of the Presbyterian f church. This afternoon at 3 o'clock i she will speak ata meeting in the tabernacle, and this evening at 8 o'clock a genoral mooting will be con-1 ducted in the Guild hall of the Epls-1 copal church. All the meetings are i for the general public and at any of the meetings of the week all and any of the people of Ogden are welcome and even urged to attend. If Ogden is to supply its 2,800 pieces of knitted work and provide 500 Christmas boxes by December 1 there must be some very active work. Two hundred pounds of yarn will be here this week. Over a thousand pounds will follow next week. Instruction Instruc-tion and yarn will be furnished freely. It Is up to the women of Ogden. An attempt Is being made to form bands of workers in each and every club, lodge, church and union of women. It may be of interest to the people of Ogden to know that of all the cities in tho mountain division, which includes in-cludes eight states, the Red Cross of Ogden was the only chapter whose grade of work and manufactured articles arti-cles forwarded required no alteration Ogden's work graded the highest of all in perfect finish and workmanship, while the work from a largo city within the radius . of a thousand miles graded lowest The meetings as outlined are as follows. fol-lows. Primary assoications and Mutuals of three stakes. 8 p. m. Girls' Friendly society, Guild hall, Episcopal church. Wednesday, October 17., 10a, ra. All women's clubs at Maids and Matrons club rooms. 3 p. m. Eastern Star. 8 p. m. Women of Woodcraft (two I circles), at Woodmen's ball. I! Thursday, October 18. 2 p. m. Methodist church, Aid and Missionary societies of all Evangelical churches. 3:30 p. m. Catholic ladies at St. Joseph's hall. 7:30 p. m. Union girls. Friday, October 19. Huntsville (Meet representatives from Liberty, Eden and Middleton.) Saturday, October 20. 2:30 p. m. Historical society and Drama club at University club.
