Show MAYOR BORES TRE PEOPLE THEY SHALL IE LIGHTS The city commission ordered the Installation In-stallation of three more street lights last night at the regular meeting. The lights will be placed at Childs avenue and Twentp-eighth street, Polk avenue and Twenty-sixth street, and Quincy avenue nnd Capitol avenue. These lights will be erected at the places named in response to petitions of residents resi-dents of tho districts. Tho mayor yesterday yes-terday told some of the petitionors he had noticed the poor lights and ho would personally see to It that the now lights were placed. Commissioner Fiygare reported that the Utah Power & Light company had received about twenty new arc lights and that these would bo placed in various places about the city as soon as possible. Provision has already been made for their installation by the commission. The ordinance for paving district No. 124, Butler avenue from Twenty-fifth Twenty-fifth and Twenty-sixth street, and levying taxes on property holders of this district to pay for the improvement, improve-ment, was also passed. City Engineer Tracy reported on progress being made throughout tho city In paving, and improvement work. He said that It would all be sufficiently suffi-ciently finished by the coming of cold weather to relieve tho possibility of damage from freezing. City Attorney Hulaniskl made a quarterly report on the progress of legal affairs in which the city is interested. in-terested. In Included data concerning! several cases pending and a statement that Police Magistrate Georgo Barker' had a right to hold the office and that j the Twenty-eighth street paving work was legal from the city's standpoint. Applications for rooming house licenses li-censes and the paying of a claim for postage stamps wore among other minor details handled at the meeting. |
