Show 'AMERICA'S NEW WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 The navy's newest type seaplane, the giant N. C.-l, the largest seaplane In the world, broke all records for the number num-ber of passengers carried in any airplane air-plane when it made a flight with fifty men on board Wednesday at the naval air station, Kockaway, L. I. No special modifications of the plane were made for tne flight. The N. C.-l is the first American tri-mo-tored seaplane and is, propelled by three Liberty motors that develop a maximum of 1,200 horsepower, giving it a cruising speed og 80 miles an hour. In the test flight the plane was piloted by Lieutenant David H. McCullough of the naval reserve flying corps. |
