IUNER IN CHEHY Milton McCoy, 13, of 207 Thirty-third Thirty-third street had his left hand so badly mashed in a spur gear in the Wright-Whlttier Wright-Whlttier canning plant yesterday about 3:30 p. m. that the hand had to be amputated at a point above the wrist Tho young man was taken to the Dee hospital. Young McCoy was detailed to watch a conveyor belt and see that the cans did not catch on anything and cause a tie-up. In some manner not known, he allowed his hand to get near the spur gear. He wore gloves and his glovo was caught and drawn with his hand into the meshes of the gear. The boy screamed and fell forward and as he fell his body threw off the linked belt which operated this piece of machinery ma-chinery and stopped It His hand had been drawn Into tho gear, however, far enough to literally reduce it to a pulp. nn |
