Show SEEKING A PARDON FOR JOHN A. DOUGLAS OF HUNTSVILLE A petition to the state board of pardons, par-dons, in behalf of John D. Douglass has been forwarded from the city commissioners. commis-sioners. The petition asks that they grant a pardon to the man, who has served about thirty years for a crime committed in Huntsville about 1S88. The man shot his wife. It is stated that his case has been considered by the state board several tlmese. Douglas appealed to tho commissioners com-missioners to use their influence in his behalf on the grounds that he has been a model prisoner during his incarceration incarcera-tion and that during a jail break there some time ago, he helped the officers to quell the disturbance. He also states that he desires to begin life anew and that the punishment has been severe. nn |
