Show GREECE TO RECEIVE AMERICAN LOANj WASHINGTON, April 9. Greece will receive a loan of 144,000,000 from the United States as soon as the Greek parliament has passed the necessary authorizing legislation, it was announced an-nounced at the treasur department today. The credit was arranged in Paris by Oscar T. Crosby, assistant secretary of 'the treasury and American represents represen-ts ive on the inter-allied council. It was lound necessary, however, for the Greek government tb obtain special : legislation before finally concluding 1 1 he agreement. Greece is the last of the allied belligerents bel-ligerents in Burope to get a loan from the United States. A credit of $6,666 -000 for Rumania was arranged se -era! months ago and payment of $5,000,000 Was mad. through Russia, overthrow of the Kerensky govern -I ment prevented its delivery, however, 'and it was returned to the treasury here. In riew of the indefinite situation situa-tion on the Rumanian front the status of this loan has not been definitely del cr mined. |
