Show I El OF THE YEAH WILL SEE A I MERRY CROWD AT EACH OF THE I CLUBS; MANY DANCING PARTIES I The season of 191S, though born on a -war-torn bed of grief and monumental monumen-tal catastrophe, seldom equaled in the world's history, will be ushered in by Ogden people with the same zest and hope that other and more promising j ears have been greeted with. It seems to be a characteristic of human nature that despite the seriousness of the world-wide cataclysm enveloping the people of the earth there is yet evidence evi-dence of the spirit of hope and desire to make the least of trouble by breaking break-ing forth In a festival of jollification such as will reign in practically every public hall in Ogden tonight. For the members of the Ogden Elks' club tonight there will be a veriable joy-fest. Miss Lillian Thatcher's orchestra or-chestra will furnish music and dancing. danc-ing. Cabaret features and general entertainment en-tertainment will be on until an early hour, or at least until little 191S has been safely ushered across the thresh -hold of time. The Ariel male quartette, quar-tette, an organization of singers which took Ogden people by storm a few weeks ngo when they appeared at the Weber club, has been secured for the evening to furnish musical entertainment. entertain-ment. At the University club an open house will be held and dancing will probably be the chief feature of the watch party. The University club has held several entertaining little Informal parties this year and those who have attended always al-ways expressed their pleasure of the fraternal spirit and companionship dispensed dis-pensed there. The members and their friends will be expected. New Year's Eve will bo celebrated by the Eagles club at the home on Grant avenue, with a dancing party. A "jazz" orchestra will furnish music fro the dance and several special features have been announced for this night. A committee, consisting of Elmer El-mer Seiber, R. H. Wootton, J. F. Matt-son, Matt-son, Wilson Wright, Jr., and Gilbert Porter, is arranging the party. The Berthana club, a new social Institution In-stitution of Ogden, will commence its 191S series of dances with a party tonight to-night in the Berthana hall. The membership mem-bership of this club is large, but for the benefit of those who have not yet joined and who wish to do so, a committee com-mittee will be on the mezzanine floor during the evening to issue membership member-ship cards to those who wish to join. The party this evening will be given under direction of Mrs. Billy Leon, dancing instructor of the Berthana, and Manager Joseph Goss. Crawford's enlarged "jazz" orchestra will furnish music for the party and the dance program pro-gram will extend from 9 p. m. to 1 a. m. The party will be informal. Fraternal societies of Ogden and other organizations have planned parties par-ties to watch for the coming of the new year and nearly every dance hall and public gathering place in the city will be rented for this evening. |
