Show DE0KAT1 OF 13HI HO CHAPEL The dedicatory service for the temporary tem-porary Thirteenth ward chapel was held yesterday afternoon with a meeting meet-ing commencing at 2:30 o'clock. An-thon An-thon H. Lund of the First Presidency of the Latter-Day Saints church was present and offered the dedicatory prayer. The presidency of the Ogden stake, Elders T. B., Evans, Thomas E. McKay and John Halls were also present. pres-ent. Other visiting authorities were Elders Marcus Farr, Lester Froerer and Nephl J. Brown or the stake high council, Walter B. Scoville of the presidency pres-idency of the Stake High Priest's quorum. quo-rum. Bishop O. M. Sanderson of the Sixth ward and Bishop E. A. Olsen of the Fourth ward. The meeting was presided over by Bishop J. Howard Jenkins and opened with the singing of "Praise to tho Man Who Communed Willi Jehovah," by the congregation. Invocation was rendered ren-dered by Elder Hyrum H. Goddard, and' the ward choir under the direction of Heber C. Oborn sang, "Morning Breaks." Walter B. Scoville was the first speaker and he told of the history of the ward. When it was organized from parts of the Sixth and Fourth wards, he said, J. Howard Jenkins, Samuel Martin and Albert W. Bell were sustained sus-tained as the bishopric and Frank J. Foulger as ward clerk. Under direction direc-tion of these officers and other church authorities, the priesthood and auxil-lary auxil-lary organizations were organized. A building committee composed of twelve prominent men and twelve prominent women of the ward was appointed ap-pointed and within throo months sufficient suf-ficient money had been raised to purchase pur-chase building materials for a tompof rary structure for the ward. Bishop Jenkins next made a few remarks re-marks on behalf of the bishopric and Herman J. Westbroek, Lillian Scott De-Wolfe De-Wolfe and choir next sang, "God Bless Our Mountain Home." Elder Thomas E. McKay, representing the stake presidency, gave a short address, following fol-lowing the song. "Let Us Have Peace" was next sung by Reginald Minson and the dedicatory dedica-tory address and prayer by Anthon H. Lund followed. Elder Samuel Martin, spoke in closing and expressed to Bishops Bis-hops Sanderson and Olsen the thanks the members of the ward felt for courtesy cour-tesy shown the Thirteenth ward prior to the erection of Its chapel. The choir closed the service by singing "Song of the Redeemed." |
