Humble, the negro who was arrested Tuesday night at the armory luring the boxing contest, by Deputy -sheriff William Brown, and charged ith carr mg concealed weapons, appeared ap-peared before the municipal court this morning and was given a 30 day suspended sus-pended sentence after Judge George S. Barker had heard the facts. The negro stated to the court, and corroborated by the official who arrested him. that he had not made any such statements as had been attributed at-tributed to him by a local morning Piper. The statements contained in tbe r Printed article were claimed by the defendant, who was corroborated by 'be arresting officer to have been absolutely ab-solutely untrue except na to the fact 'bat be had the gun in his possession 6nd had been arrested Iputy Sheriff William Brown told Uie court that he had been told by some persons in the armory who sat behind the negro that the negro was "totting" a gun, as they had noticed outllues in his back pocket under j's coat. He said he found the gun but that the negro was very peaceable 0d submitted to arrest in a most gentlemanly manner. The negro seemed to be mild enough hea he faced the court. He said that be had worked for the Southern Pa-ruc Pa-ruc company on the dining cars for fourteen years and that the fight was Uo first he had over attended in his life. He was invited by a friend who bought the tickets, and ho said he ould not know if the decision of the referee was fair or otherwise.
