Show UNIVERSITY CLUB HAS SCORED A BIG SUCCESS "Rollinc Stones," presented last nicht in the Orpheum theater bv the, University club as the first of its an-I nual shows, scored a big success. It was probably the most nouble amateur ama-teur production from point of int- r est of the year. It showed plainly what willing amateurs, under capable direc tion, can do. The show went through with no hesitation and the action was , sustained In admirable fashion. For, a first performance, the play was given , especially well. There seemed to be a total absence of stage fright nr eleventh -hour loss of memory'. At least the audience could detect no imperfections im-perfections and what improvising was necessary came as easily and naturally to the amateurs of the "Rolling Stones" cast as to professionals Earl Pardoe, secretary of the club and dramatic director of the sho., was the dominant note, of course. His training and numerous appearances have fitted him admirably for such a position and he carried it gracefully It would bo hard to select a lead1 among the ladles For the part played, I each seemed to be as nearly perfect) as conditions permitted. Miss Ellen Scowcroft perhaps had the most difficult dif-ficult role and delivered it with splendid splen-did success. Mrs Amber Kinyon, a well known local professional, got laugh after laugh with her clever act- I ing, and threw the finest realism into many scenes. Miss Dorothy Wright also called forth much praise. She acted naturally and well and maintained maintain-ed excellent poiso throughout. .Mrs-Gladys .Mrs-Gladys Peterson was another whom the audience keenely appreciated. She had quite a difficult role to interpret but did it very' acceptably. Attorney Clarence Wright's acting was spirited and spontaneous. He registered reg-istered the part of a live young busi ness man. although somewhat misdirected, mis-directed, with truth and cleverness David L. Seine, city attorney there seemed to be a whole stage full of attorneys at-torneys and "profs" also delivered his part, as the genuine heir, with success. Principals John A Junk and E. M Reid had good parts and handled them very well There were several humorous notes there always are in amateur pc r-furmances r-furmances and the audience took several good-natured laughs when such predicaments developed. That Is half the enjoyment of an amateur perform ance, coupled with the realization that the actors are getting as much fun out of it as the audience. To see the well known district attorney, at-torney, S P Irbb. in the uniform of a Lty patrolman which by the way fitted him perfectly, was good for a laugh any time,. To see Dr. S. W. : Wht-rrv us I he iin vl I i n y himhunH 'mt especially In th scene bere he comes onto the stage in pajamas and i bathrobe, was another worth-while1 sight There isn't space enough to call attention to the good work of all the actors, for it was good.
